What does it mean to lack a (Healthy) Sense of Self?

If you don’t have a Sense of Self, it doesn’t mean that you’re weak or incapable. Nor does it mean that you have no Self; we all have a Self. The lack of a healthy Sense of Self just means you weren’t given an opportunity to develop your authenticity during childhood.


What can you do to restore or develop your Sense of Self and authenticity?

First, you need to change your focus from external things such as validation, admiration, or approval… to consciously experiencing your own body. As you can better feel/sense your body, you’ll be confronted again and again with the undeniable proof that you (already) exist as your own person and that you, therefore, do not have to strive to be accepted by others by getting their approval or validation.


Name some techniques that can help you develop body awareness.

  • Consciously touch things with your hands (to “feel” with your senses).
  • Become aware of your feet when you walk on the
  • Compare the (customized) Twelve Self-Assessment Statements with the Twelve Reconditioning Internalize the latter as a guideline.
