Lesson 9 Review Answers

Submodule 9

Question 1) How does the Distorted Mirror fit into the SubSoS-oriented System?

The Distorted Mirror leads to the lack of a Natural Sense of Self, and the resulting dependency on a Substitute Sense of Self to the development of a SubSoS-oriented System.

This takes place as you grow up, when your parent/caregiver mirrors back to you an image of you, based of his or her own, parental needs (“You are not the way I want you to be”) and not based on your needs as a child. It occurs when you, as a child, are not being seen and treated as your own independent, little human being. You then become dependent on parental approval, which you try to gain by fitting into the Distorted Mirror.
Through the years, this strategy turns into a habit, and even into an addiction, which is stored in every cell of your body.
Visualize the SubSoS-Oriented System as an army. The different aspects of the totality of you, as you have become under the influence of your compulsive need for approval, are like individual soldiers, and each one is aiming at the same target: gaining a SubSoS.
Once you’ve been conditioned to be dependent on that SubSoS, this army occupies your being on all levels – body, mind, and emotions – and is mobilized each time an opportunity to gain a Fgas state appears, as that serves as your SubSoS.
