Happy National Dog Day!

Celebrated on August 26th, National Dog Day was founded by Colleen Paige in 2004.National Dog Day

We’re excited to celebrate National Dog Day as we know that dogs not only improve our overall sense of self, but they protect us in many ways, including acting as service animals to protect us when needed.

According to the official National Dog Day site, the observance “serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, and acknowledges family dogs and dogs that work selflessly each day to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort.”

Celebrate National Dog Day With Us!

The National Dog Day site encourages all, dog owners and non-dog owners alike, to donate $5 to their local shelter on National Dog Day in recognition of all of the amazing things dogs do for us. In order to find a rescue center near you, check out ASPCA.org.

In addition to making a donation to celebrate the day and acknowledge all the great things our K-9 BFFs do for us, here are 20 Ways to Celebrate National Dog Day!

Got a pooch you’re celebrating with? Send us a pic to social@healthysenseofself.com to be featured on our social media pages today!
