Direct Relationship with Self

direct-relationship-with-self

A way of relating to your own being that includes body awareness, which means that you sense your Self without having to refer to achievements or other people’s opinion about you (in contrast to Indirect Relationship with Self).

In a Direct relationship with your Self you experience your existence as independent from the outcome of particular actions and behaviors. (See Hidden Goal/Hidden Agenda.) Your experience of living includes a deep inner knowing that you are a “real” person, (See Lack-of-Sense-of-Self) and that the fact that you are is a given, which is not dependent on any outside condition within the terms of this method.
(See Ego-Reference.)

This deeply ingrained inner knowing and experiencing of your ‘I’ as independently-existing backs up and supports your surface experience of “me” and, ”myself” as it comes up in your daily life, at all times. Your subconscious mind knows fully and ongoingly that you are alive and have the right to exist as who you are and to take in space and time in the world. “I” is a given that is never doubted.
(See Fear of Annihilation.)

If you have a Direct Relationship with Self, you have immediate and always access to your true, authentic feelings, beliefs, needs, desires, preferences, and motives. These are not hidden from yourself or others, nor have you any need for adopting anyone else’s or faking your own for any reason. (See Ego-References.)

This Direct Relationship with Self is found only in a person with a Natural, Healthy Sense of Self and in those who worked hard to gain a Restored-Sense-of-Self. It is entirely absent from a Substitute Sense of Self, which includes an Indirect Relationship with Self.
