September is National Recovery Month

Recovery Month

HEALTHYSENSEOFSELF’s activities are part of National Recovery Month (Recovery Month), which is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This year, HEALTHYSENSEOFSELF will be observing Recovery Month by raising awareness of related issues through our content.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) sponsors Nation
al Recovery Month
each year to raise awareness of behavioral health conditions, and this year we’re here to help.

The association promotes that “behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover,” and we couldn’t agree more.

This year’s Recovery Month theme: “Join the voice of recovery: Visible, Vocal, Valuable!”

According to the official Recovery Month website, this year’s theme aims to “highlight the value of peer support by educating, mentoring, and helping others. It invites individuals in recovery and their support systems to be change agents in communities, and in civic and advocacy engagements.”

This year we are aiming to be change agents in our online community by sharing information on recovery from mental and behavioral health conditions all month long. Join us by sharing your recovery story in the comments below or on our Facebook or Twitter pages with #RecoveryMonth! We would love to help support you on your journey to recovery!
